Who?

Andrew Marvin is a writer, black belt, bass player, and nerd.

He was born in 1987 and grew up in Newington, Connecticut. Andrew attended Sacred Heart University, becoming partially self-actualized and graduating in Spring 2009 with a B.A. in English.

He is currently finishing his master’s thesis on Middle English lyric poetry at Southern Connecticut State University, as well as thinking a great deal about what to do next.

Andrew loves music, writing, reading, and teaching, and would prefer to make a living doing some or all of those things. He’s been playing electric bass obsessively for about nine years and has written two novels. If he were a playlist, he’d be this one. He’s also been reading since kindergarten.

Andrew has been involved in the martial arts as a student and instructor for over fifteen years, currently holding a fourth-degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate and owing it much of his personal development.

Andrew’s motley resume includes, but is not limited to, karate instructor, student affairs graduate intern, bookseller, medical records coordinator, Apple campus representative, classroom learning assistant, student union manager, and lawnmower.

Most recently, Andrew co-hosts Crush On Radio, a weekly podcast about being a music fan, with Richard J. Anderson and Matt Keeley.

He also enjoys golf, eastern philosophy, minimalism, yoga, all things Apple, and wearing stuff from L.L. Bean.
